In Part One of this work the author has described his observations of the people of Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban, a religious group of people, Like their predecessors they were inexperienced in administering the land, and resorted to the strict rule of the Wahhabi type which soon alienated the people under their rule. The second part of the book describes briefly the history of Islamic fundamentalism, and the role which the founder of the al-Qa’eda. Osama ben Laden played in the resistance period. Excommunicated from his own land, he finally took residence in Afghanistan under the protection of the Taliban whom he assisted with money and men against their enemies, a union which finally led to the demise of the Islamic emirate in late 2001 by the United States invasion of Afghanistan.
