This book is based on the historical text “Hai Ulal-Falah” or the Declaration of Independence written by Mahmoud Tarzi, researched and compiled by Dr. Mohammad Zarin Anzor. It can be used as a source for research of one of the most important events of modern history of Afghanistan, the restoration of independence of the country. The book also discusses the contributions of Siraj Al-Akhbar Afghaniyeh, Mahmoud Tarzi and “Hai Ulal-Falah” for achieving the independence.

One of the pioneers of the constitutional movement in Afghanistan was Mir Sayed Qasim Khan, whose narratives of the national struggles of the movement were written by Pashtoonyar and published in separate parts. Mr. Zarin Anzoor has studiously compiled the various parts, saving them from being lost, and commented on them in an extended introduction. In this book, we also get to know Mir Sayed Qasim Khan, learn about the national spirit and struggles of those involved in the constitutional movement.

This is a collection of the writings of Professor Kakar published between 50 to 60 years ago first in Kabul, Wazhma and Ariana journals. His articles in those journals were studiously and diligently collected, reviewed, typed and published. The articles in the volume are divided into literary, historical and social issues, and includes some translations.

Although the writings are at least over half a century old, they resonate and are relevant to currents debates about the independence of the country, the experiences of colonialism, the state and societal relationships and so forth. In this book, Professor Kakar also shares his insights about the development of language, and the virtues of simple writing. In the field of social sciences, he discusses early humans, their behaviors and intellectual development as per reputable academic sources.

“تلاش افغان‌ها برای صلح” (The Afghans’ Pursuit of Peace) is the volume which includes 11 essays written by former and current members of the then Afghan government and its opposing parties, members of the current peace negotiation team, the civil society, and scholars from across Afghanistan and the Afghan diaspora. The Dari-Pashto volume has been edited by the Afghan Pashto poet and writer Zarin Anzoor and Persian manuscript specialist and scholar Dr. Khalilullah Afzali.

In Search of Peace for Afghanistan is a collection of twenty-two essays on war and peace making in contemporary Afghanistan. The volume is inspired by the discovery in 2019 of three historical letters of President Najibullah and historian M. Hassan Kakar. In the correspondence, exchanged in 1990, Najibullah and Kakar speak candidly about the hopes and desires of the Afghan people for peace, about plans to bring peace to their country, and about the national and regional-global actors, factors, and obstacles concerning the states of war and peace then in post-Soviet Afghanistan. The contributors to this volume, all established and emerging Afghan and international scholars, public intellectuals, and former and current members of civil society, policy, and state institutions, offer critical analyses of the correspondence, and fresh perspectives on historical and political themes related to the past and current peacemaking processes and efforts. They also offer insights on modern Afghan state-society-relations, public and political spaces, post-conflict society and development, and the role of non-Afghan, wider regional state and non-state actors and geopolitics, and present comparative examples of successful peace negotiations and best practices in international conflict resolution.
